Established
in 1987, PMP started as an optical effects house, utilizing optical
printers and motion control to supply visual effects for a variety of
motion picture projects. When the "digital revolution" occured, PMP
converted and never looked back. We have supplied over 100 films with
everything from blue/green screen composites and wire removals to
make-up fixes, simple matte shots, miniatures and motion control
elements.
Most of what we do is 2D compositing, although we do
utilize Maya for some 3D elements. We also shoot elements on 35mm film
or video (HD or NTSC). Some of the services we typically supply are:
- 2D compositing
- Wire Removal
- Crowd Replication
- Digital Restoration
- Speed changes
- Rotoscoping
- Motion Control
- Stage shoots
- On Set Supervision
We
use primarily Intel based workstations, although there are still quite
a few SGI machines in use. We use software from Discreet,
Alias/Wavefront, The Foundry and Adobe along with custom in-house
software written for specific needs.
Perpetual Motion Pictures occupies a 7500 square foot facility in Valencia, California. There are 4 compositing suites, a small renderfarm and over 4 Tbytes of storage. We have a small shooting stage on-site for jobs requiring specific photography. We have a 35mm Mitchell Fries camera as well as HD and NTSC video cameras. Also available is a variety of motion control equipment, lighting and grip and a small machine shop.
PMP is 30 minutes from Hollywood and Burbank, 45 minutes (depending on traffic) from Santa Monica.
